The School
The School and its Purpose
Shiva International Residential School was established in 2024 by the Shiva Educational Society with the aim of providing the best possible education and giving equal importance to the overall development of every child. Situated on 15 acres of enclosed valley at Chandpur, about 8 kilometres from Bilaspur, the School is a co-educational day and boarding school affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
The purpose of the School is to help children grow into complete human beings. Academic learning is an important part of this, but so are physical development, creativity, confidence, discipline and character. Students are encouraged to think for themselves, understand what they learn and develop their interests through sport, music, art, dance and other activities. At the same time, importance is given to the simple values that shape a child’s everyday conduct, such as honesty, good manners, punctuality, responsibility and respect for others.
Our aim is to provide an education that prepares students not only to do well in examinations, but also to face the wider demands of life with confidence and good judgement. We want our students to be able to stand alongside students from the finest schools in the country and to carry with them the knowledge, abilities and values that will serve them well in the years ahead.
History
Shiva International Residential School is a young school, but it is part of a longer educational journey. The Shiva Educational Society was established in 2007 by Mr. Purushotam Sharma and began its work at Chandpur with Shiva B.Ed. College. Over the years, the Society expanded into engineering, polytechnic, pharmacy, Ayurveda, school education and other areas of professional education, establishing a group of educational institutions in Himachal Pradesh.
The idea of a residential school at Chandpur grew from this experience. The School opened its doors in 2024 and has continued to expand its classes, facilities and activities with each academic year.
- 2024
Shiva International Residential School opens its doors, beginning with students from Class III to Class VIII. During the year, the synthetic basketball court and lawn tennis court are completed, and the School receives affiliation from the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
- 2025
The School expands its academic offering from Class I to Class IX. The indoor shooting range is inaugurated, becoming the first indoor shooting range of its kind in Bilaspur district. The first Student Council is elected and invested, and students represent the School at the IIMUN conference in Mandi. The School also holds its first Annual Day.
- 2026
The boarding houses for boys and girls are inaugurated and opened for admissions. The School expands its academic offering to Nursery to Class X and introduces new facilities for martial arts.
- 2027–28
The School expands into senior secondary education with Class XI, offering Medical, Non-Medical, Commerce and Arts streams.
Looking Ahead
The School is still in its early years, and there is much to look forward to. The opening of Class XI in the 2027–28 academic session will allow students to continue their education at SIRS through senior secondary school, with a choice of Medical, Non-Medical, Commerce and Arts streams.
As the School grows, the campus and its facilities will grow with it. Further plans include additional boarding accommodation, a sports auditorium, indoor sporting facilities, a swimming pool and other improvements to support the expanding needs of the School.
The plans for the coming years are ambitious, but the purpose remains the same: to provide a strong education, to give children opportunities to develop in different areas of life and to build a school that can stand alongside the finest schools in the country.
Mind, Knowledge, Soul.
