The School
Which Board is the School affiliated to?
The Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. The affiliation number is 630362 and the school code 42174.
Which classes does the School offer?
Nursery to Class X. Class XI opens in the 2027–28 session, subject to inspection by the Board.
Is the School co-educational?
Yes. Boys and girls are admitted to every class, as day scholars or as boarders.
Where is the School?
At Chandpur, about eight kilometres from Bilaspur town, in District Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. Directions are on the Contact Us page.
Can we visit before applying?
Yes, and the School encourages it. Parents are welcome on any working day between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Admission
When do admissions open, and is there a last date?
Admissions for 2027–28 are open now. There is no last date; places are offered as they are taken up. Families are advised to register early, particularly for boarding.
What is the age for Nursery and for Class I?
Three years for Nursery and six years for Class I, as on 31 March of the year of admission. The full table is on the Admission Process page.
Is there an entrance test?
There is an interaction with the child. For the youngest classes it is an informal conversation; for older classes a short written exercise in English, Hindi and Mathematics establishes the child’s level.
Can a child join during the session?
Yes, against a vacancy, with the transfer certificate and marks of the previous school.
Fees
Where are the fees published?
On the Fees page, and as a PDF under Information. The same structure is filed with the Board.
How are fees paid?
In six instalments, by the tenth of April, June, August, October, December and February, at the office or online.
Are there concessions?
Ten per cent on annual charges and the admission fee for a second child of the same family, for the children of the School’s staff, and for the children of employees of the Shiva Group of Institutions.
School life
What are the school hours?
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Classes I to X, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for Nursery, LKG and UKG, Monday to Saturday.
Is transport provided?
Yes. School buses run on fixed routes serving Bilaspur, Ghumarwin and the villages between them. Routes are settled at the start of the session; the transport in-charge at the office has the details.
Are meals provided for day scholars?
Yes, as an option, charged annually. Boarders take all their meals in the dining hall.
From which class is boarding offered?
From Class IV. Boys and girls live in separate houses under house parents who live with them.
How often can we speak to our child in boarding?
Students telephone home at set times in the week. In an emergency the house parent may be reached at any hour.
What if a child falls ill?
A nurse on campus sees the child first; a doctor is called when needed; parents are told the same day.
Are mobile telephones allowed?
No. Mobile telephones are prohibited on the school premises for all students.
Is private tuition needed?
No, and the School discourages it. Where a child needs more help, enrichment classes are arranged within school hours.
