Leadership
The School is run by the Shiva Educational Society, Bilaspur, registered in 2007. The Society’s Managing Director is the School’s sponsoring authority; the Principal is responsible for its academic programme and its daily life. A School Management Committee, constituted under the Board’s rules, meets as required, and its membership is published on the Mandatory Public Disclosure page.
Mr. Purushotam Sharma
Mr. Purushotam Sharma founded the Shiva Educational Society in 2007 and has since established seven institutions in Himachal Pradesh, among them the first college of teacher education, the first engineering college and the first polytechnic in District Bilaspur, and the first private ayurvedic medical college in the State to offer postgraduate study. Shiva International Residential School is the most recent of them.
His work has been directed throughout at providing, within the district, education that families once had to travel outside it to find. In 2013 he received a national award for his contribution to education in the region.
Mr. Sharma is closely involved in the development of the School and provides its overall direction as its sponsoring authority.
Mr. Rakesh Kumar
Mr. Rakesh Kumar has been Principal of the School since it opened. He holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Education, and brings to the post eighteen years’ experience in boarding and day-boarding schools.
As Principal he is responsible for the academic programme, the pastoral care of students, the appointment and management of the teaching staff, and the day-to-day running of the School. He is accessible to students, parents and staff, and regards that accessibility as essential in a residential school.
