Admission Process
Admission to the School is open to boys and girls from Nursery to Class X, as day scholars or boarders, and is granted on the basis of age, an interaction with the child, and the availability of a place. The process is deliberately simple. It begins with a visit, and the School would rather a family saw it working on an ordinary day than read about it here.
The steps
- Enquire. Telephone the office on 98050 92530 or 98050 92550, write to shivaresidentialschool@gmail.com, or send the enquiry form on the Contact Us page. The office will answer your questions and arrange a visit.
- Visit the School. Parents are welcome on any working day between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. You will be shown the classrooms, the boarding houses, the dining hall and the grounds, and may meet the Principal by appointment.
- Register. Complete the registration form at the office and submit the documents listed below with the registration fee. Registration secures consideration for a place; it does not by itself guarantee admission.
- Interaction. The child meets the class teacher and the Principal. For Nursery to Class II this is an informal conversation and observation; for older classes there is a short written exercise in English, Hindi and Mathematics to establish the child’s level, so that the School can teach from the right place.
- Admission. The School informs the family of the decision within a week. Admission is confirmed on payment of the admission fee and the first instalment of fees, and on receipt of the transfer certificate from the previous school.
Age criteria
Admission is by age, in keeping with the guidelines of the Government of Himachal Pradesh and the Board. The minimum age for each class, as on 31 March of the year of admission, is as follows.

Admission to a class is provisional for the first year and continues on the child’s progress and conduct in that year. Admission to Class X is considered only against a definite vacancy and with the transfer certificate and marks of the previous school.
Documents required
- Birth certificate of the child
- Transfer certificate from the previous school (Class I and above)
- Report card of the last class attended
- Aadhaar card of the child and of the parents
- Four passport-size photographs of the child, and one each of the mother, father and guardian
- Medical fitness certificate, with a note of any condition or allergy
- For students from another Board or State, the counter-signature on the transfer certificate as required by the Board
When to apply
Admissions for the 2027–28 session are open. There is no last date; places are offered as they are taken up, and the School advises families to register early, particularly for boarding, where places are limited. Admission during the session is considered against vacancies.
