Shiva International Residential School — CBSE Boarding School, Bilaspur
Shiva International Residential School was established in 2024 with a clear and enduring purpose: to offer the families of Bilaspur and the wider region a school of genuine quality, one that holds academic rigour and the formation of character in equal regard. Affiliated to the CBSE and offering classes from Nursery to Class X, SIRS is the first residential school of its kind in the district.
Who We Are — Shiva International Residential School
Shiva International Residential School draws upon more than a decade of educational experience within the Shiva Group of Institutions. The School was founded on the conviction that a boarding school, properly ordered, offers something that no day school can fully replicate: the formation of character through the texture of daily life, through the discipline of a structured routine, the demands of shared living, and the quiet habits of diligence cultivated in the study hall.
The School holds certain beliefs to be fundamental. Academic standards must be uncompromising. The CBSE curriculum provides a rigorous framework; our teachers are expected to deliver it with thoroughness and care, and every student is expected to meet the standards set before them.
The trust that parents place in this institution, particularly those who entrust their child to its residential care, is not taken lightly. Communication with families is maintained with regularity and candour. The welfare of each student, inside and outside the classroom, is a responsibility this School accepts fully.
It has been the School’s founding belief that good teaching matters more than impressive facilities, and that the character of a school is determined not by what it announces about itself, but by the conduct of its students and the quality of its daily life.

The Campus — Chandpur, Bilaspur
The School’s campus is situated at Chandpur, near Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh, extending across 44,515 square metres. It comprises 34 classrooms, seven well-equipped laboratories, separate residential facilities for boys and girls, open sports grounds, and a central dining hall. The setting, at the edge of the Shivalik foothills, affords the calm and the space that are essential to the life of a residential school.
The SIRS Education — Rigour, Breadth, and Character
The School follows the CBSE curriculum from Nursery to Class X, delivered by qualified teachers who are expected to know their subject thoroughly and to know the progress of every student in their charge. Academic excellence and personal formation are not regarded here as competing priorities; they are understood as two aspects of the same purpose.
The school day is deliberately structured. Academic work occupies the morning and afternoon sessions. Sport, music, and co-curricular activity are woven into the afternoon and early evening. Supervised preparation is held each evening for boarding students. This consistency of routine, with the same standards and the same expectations every day, is among the most significant advantages that a well-run residential school offers a child.
The School offers a broad programme in sport, the performing arts, and leadership activities. These are not peripheral to the School’s purpose; they are central to it. The lessons a student learns on the field — learning to compete with integrity, to lead under pressure, and to accept an outcome with composure — are among the most durable lessons any school can offer.
Progress is communicated to parents with regularity and candour. Families who have placed their child in the School’s care are entitled to know, honestly and clearly, how that child is faring, and what the School is doing to address any difficulty that arises.
Our Leadership
The School is led by individuals who have dedicated their professional lives to education in Himachal Pradesh, and who are present in the institution not as distant administrators, but as active participants in its daily life.
Mr. Purushotam Sharma founded the Shiva Educational Society in 2007 and has since established seven educational institutions across Himachal Pradesh, including Bilaspur’s first college of teacher education and its first engineering college. In 2013 he received a national award for his contribution to education in the region. Shiva International Residential School, established in 2024, is the most recent institution in this network.
Mr. Rakesh Kumar is the Principal of SIRS. He holds a Master of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Education, and brings considerable experience in school administration, curriculum oversight, and the management of residential student life. As Principal, he is responsible for the academic programme, the pastoral care of students, and the day-to-day running of the School.
