We Are the
SIRStars
The School Anthem of Shiva International Residential School is sung at every assembly, at every significant gathering of the school community, and on every occasion when the students of SIRS come together as one. It is not only a song, it is a statement of what this community believes about itself and what it aspires to become.
The term SIRStar, which the anthem makes its central image, carries within it the school’s entire vision of its students: bold, free, curious, growing, united. Students who learn this anthem early in their time at SIRS often report that its words become, over the years, a kind of internal compass.
The anthem is sung to an original composition, and all students are expected to know it by heart from their first term at the school.
Striving for truth, for unity.
Learning, growing, every day,
Together we pave the brighter way.
With open minds and hearts that care,
We face each challenge, bold and fair.
Through sweat and toil, we aim to rise,
With wisdom bright as morning skies.
With courage and strength, we give our all.
With hearts united, spirits high,
SIRStars, we soar, we touch the sky!
Embracing life, come what may.
With every step, we strive to be,
The best we can, for all to see.
From Bilaspur’s hills, we’ll make our mark,
Igniting minds, dispelling dark.
Our school, our pride, our legacy,
SIRS forever, bold and free!
With courage and strength, we give our all.
With hearts united, spirits high,
SIRStars, we soar, we touch the sky!
What the Anthem
Teaches
Every line of the SIRS anthem was written with intention. Below are the four ideas that run through it, the qualities the anthem asks students to carry not just at assembly, but through every moment of school life.
I love my country, and I am proud of its rich and varied heritage.
I shall always strive to be worthy of it.
I shall give my parents, teachers, and all elders respect,
and treat everyone with courtesy.
To my country and my people, I pledge my devotion.
In their well-being and prosperity alone lies my happiness.
