Our Leadership

The School is led by Mr. Purushotam Sharma, Managing Director of the Shiva Group of Institutions, and Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Principal of Shiva International Residential School.

Mr. Purushotam Sharma founded the Shiva Educational Society in 2007 and has since established seven educational institutions across Himachal Pradesh. These include Bilaspur’s first college of teacher education, its first engineering college, its first polytechnic, and Himachal Pradesh’s first postgraduate college of Ayurveda. Shiva International Residential School is the most recent institution in this network.

Mr. Sharma’s work has been directed consistently towards establishing educational facilities in areas where they were not previously available. Each institution the Group has built has been among the first of its kind in the district or state. In 2013 he received a national award in recognition of his contribution to education in the region.

Mr. Sharma is closely involved in the development of SIRS and provides overall direction to the School as its sponsoring authority.

Mr. Rakesh Kumar is the Principal of Shiva International Residential School. He holds a postgraduate degree in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Education, and brings to the School a substantial background in school administration, curriculum oversight, and the management of residential student life.

As Principal, Mr. Kumar is responsible for the academic programme, the pastoral care of students, the management of teaching staff, and the day-to-day running of the School. He is directly accessible to students, parents, and faculty and considers this accessibility central to the proper functioning of a residential school.

Mr. Kumar’s approach to school leadership is grounded in the view that academic results and the formation of character are not separate concerns. The School’s routines, expectations, and culture are designed with both in mind.
