The House System

Every student at SIRS belongs to a house from the day they join. The houses are the basic unit of community life at the School, and competition between them runs through sport, academics, and cultural events throughout the year.

SIRS has four houses: Falcons, Ospreys, Hawks, and Eagles. Each house has its own colour. Students stay in their house for the duration of their time at the School. Each house is led by House Captains and Prefects.

Inter-House Events

Houses compete against one another across the academic year. Points accumulate over both terms and the overall House Championship is announced at the end of the academic session.

Sports Cricket, football, basketball, athletics, and other disciplines across both terms.
Debates & Declamations Competitive speaking events open to students across year groups.
Quiz General knowledge and subject-based quizzes held each term.
Cultural Events House Shows, group singing, dancing, poem recitation, and Rangoli.
Story Telling Judged on delivery, structure, and original composition.
House Championship The aggregate of all events. Awarded at the annual prize-giving ceremony.

How is a student assigned to a house?

Each student is assigned to a house when they join the School. The assignment is made by the School with attention to balance across houses. A student remains in their house throughout their time at SIRS.
