& Motto
The purpose of Shiva International Residential School is to provide a rigorous and broad education within a residential setting, one that develops young people intellectually, morally, and in character. The School’s vision, mission, and motto give expression to that purpose.
To nurture students into

The School was established with the conviction that a rigorous residential education, previously unavailable in District Bilaspur, would open meaningful opportunities for students from the region and beyond.
The School’s vision is to produce graduates who are intellectually prepared, morally grounded, and ready to lead purposeful lives. Academic achievement is expected and pursued rigorously, but it is understood as one part of a broader formation. Students at this School are encouraged to read widely, think independently, question with discipline, and act with integrity.
The School draws on the traditions of residential schooling in India and seeks to build an environment where character is formed alongside capability, where daily life reinforces the habits and values that will serve students long after they have left the School.
What the School sets out to do
The School’s mission is to provide an education that develops the whole student: intellectually, physically, morally, and in social understanding. Every programme, every policy, and every decision about School life is tested against this mission.
A rigorous CBSE curriculum, delivered through disciplined teaching, independent study, and a culture of intellectual enquiry. Students are expected to engage with ideas seriously and to develop habits of careful thought and clear expression.
Through pastoral care, the House system, and the routines of residential life, students are helped to develop integrity, self-discipline, and a sense of responsibility to others. These qualities are not taught in isolation; they are formed through daily experience.
Participation in sports, the arts, music, debate, and community activities is considered integral to education at this School, not peripheral to it. Students are expected to engage broadly and to discover and develop their particular strengths.
The School takes seriously its responsibility to ground students in the culture, history, and traditions of India, while also preparing them for engagement with a wider world. Both are necessary; neither is sufficient alone.
Strength in Spirit
The motto of the School is Strength in Spirit. It refers not to physical strength alone, but to the strength of character: the courage to act with integrity, the resilience to persist through difficulty, and the composure to treat others with consideration regardless of circumstance.
This is the standard by which students of this School are asked to measure themselves, in the classroom, on the sports field, in the boarding house, and in the wider world.

The Four Houses
Residential and day students are organised into four Houses. The House system is the primary vehicle through which pastoral care, inter-House competition, and the development of community responsibility are organised at the School.
