Mind. Knowledge.
Soul.
The vision, mission, and motto of Shiva International Residential School, the principles that govern every decision made at this institution.
To be the School
Bilaspur Deserved
The vision of SIRS is to be, within a generation, the school that the families of Bilaspur and the surrounding region point to as evidence that a world-class education is available here, not elsewhere, not at great distance, not only for those who can afford to send their children away, but here, in this district, for every child of sufficient ambition and ability.
SIRS envisions a student, the SIRStar, who is confident and articulate, academically rigorous and actually curious, rooted in Indian values and aware of the world beyond India’s borders, capable of leading and wise enough to know when to follow, compassionate in victory and resilient in difficulty.
The school envisions this student not as an exceptional case but as the standard, the outcome that every dimension of life at SIRS is designed to produce in every child who passes through its gates.
What We Do
Every Day
The mission of SIRS translates the vision into daily practice. It is the answer to the question: what does this school actually do, in the classroom and outside it, to produce the student it envisions?
Strength
in Spirit
The motto of Shiva International Residential School, Strength in Spirit, is not a sentiment. It is a programme. It describes the one quality the school believes underlies every other: that the student who possesses genuine strength of spirit, the capacity to act with integrity when it is inconvenient, to persist when it is difficult, to serve when it would be easier to receive, is the student who will thrive in every circumstance life places before them.
Beneath the motto sits the school’s three-word statement of purpose: Mind. Knowledge. Soul. These three words describe the complete education SIRS is committed to providing: the trained mind that can think; the knowledge that gives that thinking substance; and the soul, the ethical, spiritual, and human dimension without which intelligence becomes merely cleverness.
The school’s four houses, Falcons, Ospreys, Hawks, and Eagles, each embody a specific quality the school prizes: courage, resilience, wisdom, and ambition.
