Eighteen Years of Education in Himachal Pradesh

The Shiva Group of Institutions was established in 2007 by Mr. Purushotam Sharma. Since then, the Group has built seven educational institutions across Himachal Pradesh — covering teacher education, engineering, pharmacy, ayurveda, and school education. Shiva International Residential School is the most recent institution in this network.

About the Shiva Group / Seven Institutions Across Himachal Pradesh

The Shiva Group of Institutions was founded in 2007 by Mr. Purushotam Sharma through the Shiva Educational Society. The Group began with a single college of education in Bilaspur and has since grown to include institutions covering engineering, polytechnic training, pharmacy, ayurvedic medicine, veterinary pharmacist training, school education, and now a residential school.

Over the past eighteen years, each institution established by the Group has been among the first of its kind in the region. Shiva B.Ed. College was Bilaspur’s first college of education. Shiva Engineering College was the first engineering college in the district. The Group has consistently set up educational facilities in areas where they were not previously available.

Shiva International Residential School is the Group’s first residential school and its most recent institution. It builds on the experience accumulated across all previous institutions — in running academic programmes, managing student life, and working with students at different stages of their education.

Each institution we have established was built because a need existed in the region and no one had yet addressed it. That continues to be the reason we build.

First of Its Kind

Institutions / A Timeline

The Shiva Group has established seven institutions between 2007 and 2024. Each was set up to serve an area or discipline where adequate educational facilities were not available at the time.

2007	Shiva B.Ed. College — Bilaspur’s First College of Education The first institution established by the Shiva Educational Society. Shiva B.Ed. College was the first college of teacher education in District Bilaspur.
2009	Shiva Engineering College — Bilaspur’s First Engineering College Shiva Engineering College was the first engineering college in District Bilaspur, making technical education available locally for students who would otherwise have had to travel outside the district.
2012	Shiva Polytechnic Institute — Bilaspur’s First Polytechnic Shiva Polytechnic Institute offers diploma-level technical training across several trades. It was the first polytechnic in District Bilaspur.
2015	Shiva Institute of Pharmacy The Group’s first institution in the field of pharmacy education, established as part of a broader effort to offer healthcare-related programmes in the region.
2015	Shiva International School, Ghumarwin A CBSE-affiliated day school in Ghumarwin. This was the Group’s first school at the secondary level and the first step into school education.
2016	Shiva Ayurvedic Medical College — Himachal Pradesh’s First PG Ayurvedic College Shiva Ayurvedic Medical College was the first institution in Himachal Pradesh to offer postgraduate education in Ayurveda.
2020	Shiva Veterinary Pharmacist Training Institute A training institute for veterinary pharmacists, providing a qualification relevant to animal healthcare and the agricultural sector in the region.
2024	SIRS — Shiva International Residential School, Bilaspur The Group’s first residential school and the first CBSE day-cum-boarding school in District Bilaspur, admitting students from Nursery to Class X.
